We weren't made to wallow in the valleys, to camp out on the flat grasslands, to sit in the shade of complacency.
We were made to climb higher, dig deeper, stretch further.
That seems all well and good- but what about feeling like we're in the trenches of life? Like the mountain peak vista is so far away- so unobtainable?
Can we get even a taste of that pure adrenaline glory-water that comes from standing on high places, in the midst of our mediocre mundane?
You and I, we're made for the mountain- but what if we've got our eyes on Mount Everest instead of the mountains we need to scale today?
The momma with her mountains of dishes, laundry, and children toppling on top of each other. The girl with her mountains of schoolwork, job complications, doubts and fears. The son with his mountains of bills, temptations, and workload.
We pass over these mountains and look to the Mount Everests of amazing accomplishments instead- forgetting that we were made for these mountains too.
Made to scale the mundane with grace. To overcome these obstacles with peace. Made to tackle each climb with gusto knowing that He is with us every step of the way- that these mountains are holy ground because He's with us.
Mountain climbers are made victorious in the overcoming.
So take heart, friend- He's already overcome the world.
This was ... as always ... beautiful! I really needed this today :)

Well said! We overcome everyday with the help of our Awesome God! With His help we can get through the ordinary and mundane things of life and do it all to His Glory!

Thank you for this encouragement. You are such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteHello! You commented on my blog recently, and I feel like I know you. . .but I honestly have no idea who you are. ;) If you'd like to let me know, please message me! I totally hope that doesn't sound creepy, btw. :P
ReplyDeleteHey, Mich!
DeleteWell, we semi-know each other, so don't feel bad. :) We both worked on the BTM costume team, but unfortunately when you came up, I was out of town and we didn't get to meet (boohoo!). I've read your blog for....um, to be honest? Lost count of the years (Believe me, that sounded way more creepy than your statement. Oops). I'm sure I've commented here and there, but I'm a terrible one for simply reading and gleaning the encouragement, and then never taking the time to comment! :( Have to work on that!
Next time you're at Marilyn's, please let me know and we'll try to catch up for coffee! <3
Hugs!
